Searching for Souls | Print |  E-mail
2-11-2007

If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

(Matthew 16:24–27)

Back in October, we began talking about a new evangelistic tool that was produced last year by World Video Bible School (www.wvbs.org ) in Maxwell, Texas. Since that time, preparations have been underway for viewing the Searching for Truth video collectively in the auditorium. Audio and video complications have been worked out with the assistance of several of our members, and many of our teachers have agreed to suspend their classes for the duration of this worthwhile study. On Sunday morning, about 200 copies of the DVD were handed out to members of each family following the morning worship hour, and on Wednesday, we will finally be able to view this video together!

As wonderful as this new tool is in presenting the truth in its simplicity, there are some things that we need to do in order to make it part of a successful evangelistic effort in our area.
1. We need to be present for each segment of the series, as one builds on the others.
2. We should set time aside to watch the series with our families and discuss the material.
3. We need to open our Bibles and acquaint ourselves with the Scriptures that are used.
4. We need to be like Ezra who prepared himself to teach God’s law through study (7:6–10).
5. We need to invite our friends and neighbors to watch this series with us.
6. We need to distribute as many of these DVD’s in this community as possible.
(We still have over 200 in stock and are ready to order plenty more when this supply runs out!)
7. We need to pray for this effort as well as every effort being used to preach the gospel.
8. We need to spend more of our time focusing on spiritual matters instead of physical ones.

As you talk with the people you see every day, remember that each of them is a soul that is more precious than all the world. So precious were they in the eyes of God that He sent His only Son to die for them. You may very well be the only chance that they will ever have of finding the Truth that can set them free, and today may be the very last time you see them before the Judgment!
