What is the Church of Christ? | Print |  E-mail
It is likely that you have heard of the organization which calls itself the church of Christ, but you may wonder what this organization is and what its members believe. On this website, it is our desire to attempt to answer these questions by addressing a number of Bible topics. The church of Christ is an organization instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself upon His death c. A.D. 33. This organization's plea is for a return to the Bible as the only objective and divinely inspired authority for Christian living and worship. The churches of Christ have no headquarters here on Earth and no centralized government, save the organization consisting of elders and deacons within the local congregation. Each congregation of the church of Christ is therefore completely autonomous, receiving its instruction directly from the inspired Word of God.

If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God... (I Peter 4:11).

Since our instructions come directly from the Word of God, it is necessary that we become acquainted with its teachings. It is for this reason that we as members of the churches of Christ dedicate a great deal of time to a careful study of God's Word and also encourage others to involve themselves in a daily study of the inspired Scriptures.

Following are a series of studies of crucial Bible passages which govern our lifestyles and our patterns of worship in the church. Our goal in these studies is to find the truth which Jehovah God has revealed to us. We attempt to study without bias of any sort, without any desire to hold to tradition, for if we deceive ourselves, we have profited nothing. If you have a question that is not addressed below, please feel free to ask!
